WELCOME TO THE SUPERINTENDENT'S OFFICE
Dear TUSD Community,
The start of this school year is much different from any we have experienced previously. The Tracy Unified School District has started the 2020-21 school year with a distance-learning model for our students. Our certificated, classified and administrative staffs have been working hard to insure student success with this new mode of instruction. The district has purchased over 11,000 devices and over 14,000 hot spots to assist students with our distance-learning plan. While there will be bumps along the way, I am confident that our students will grow academically until we can return students to our campus.
New to TUSD, is our Tracy Independent Study Charter School. This is a new program for students who would prefer to work online from home. Curriculum is provided through Edgenuity and is for all grade levels. If you are interested in the charter school, please contact Dr. Mary Petty at 830-3280 or at email@example.com.
This summer, the district started the modernizing of North Elementary School. I am very excited to see this project begin. It will be a great addition for our students and community. This will be the last major project to be funded from the school bonds passed by the Tracy community.
This is a challenging time for our nation, state, community and especially students. TUSD is committed to providing a quality distance-learning program for our students so that they can feel engaged with their teacher and peers. Our hope is that before this year is finished that all of our students can return to in-person learning and fill our classrooms with laughter and the sounds of learning. Thank you for your patience as we move through this difficult time.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to your school site administrator or me if we can be of assistance to you and your student.
Brian Stephens, Ed.D.
