WELCOME TO THE SUPERINTENDENT'S OFFICE
Dear TUSD Community,
The impact of Covid-19 on Tracy Unified, our community, state, country and the world was unimaginable two months ago. Words fail to explain how this pandemic has changed our lives and affect how our students are educated. I want to thank all of the TUSD employees who have helped to make distance learning possible for our students.
District staff is working on plans for the 2020-21 school year. The district is considering several options from opening school as scheduled, to delayed starts, to partial days, to having students attend an alternate day schedule. At this point, we have not received much direction from our state leaders on the opening of school so we are trying to plan for all options. We are still hiring teachers and filling positions to be ready for the new school year.
I want the Class of 2020 to know that they have been in our thoughts and prayers. This was not the senior year that they had been expected to experience. The district is hoping to host an in-person graduation ceremony in August if allowed. We wish the Class of 2020 the very best as they move forward with their lives.
Starting June 1, TUSD will be accepting applications for the new Independent Study Charter School that will be opening in the new school year. The program will be for students in Grades 7-12. Please check out the district’s website for more information.
As the district moves towards a new school year, please do not hesitate to reach out to us if you have a question or concern. As we move through this pandemic, I am confident that Tracy Unified will emerge stronger, more resilient, and ready to provide our students an excellent education.
Brian Stephens, Ed.D.
