WELCOME TO THE SUPERINTENDENT'S OFFICE

Brian Stephens

Dear TUSD Community,

I am excited with the start of the new school year (August 9) rapidly approaching.  Having our students back on campus fulltime has been the goal of everyone in the district.  As we have throughout the pandemic, TUSD will be following the guidelines of the California Department of Public Health as we move forward.  Recently, the CDPH announced that masks will be a requirement for both students and staff.  While I recognize the discomfort of wearing a mask, our first priority is for the safety and good health of everyone.  If your student is unable to wear a mask for medical reasons, please contact your school site administrator to learn about what options are available for your student.  August 9th will be a big day for everyone in the Tracy community!

The district’s North Elementary School facility project will be completed for the start of the school year.  The new building and modernization in other buildings will welcome students to an amazing learning environment.  I am so grateful to the Tracy community for their past support of school improvement bonds to make these wonderful facilities a possibility.

These past eighteen months have been challenging for everyone.  There was no book or past experience that educators could draw upon to help us through the pandemic just as there is nothing to guide us out of the pandemic.  There will be issues for us to respond to as students return fulltime to classrooms.  I am confident that working together that we can help our students thrive as they return to our classrooms.  Please do not hesitate to contact your school site administrator should your student have an issue that needs assistance.  I am always available and can be reached at bstephens@tusd.net.

Best wishes for a great school year.
